OCC Wins Heritage Days Award

August 21, 2008

Our church’s float was awarded 2nd place in the Olmsted Falls Heritage Days parade in August.  The float was designed and built with the help of many volunteers, coordinated by Jan Hoskin and the “Church Improvement Plan” team.  Our goal was to have a strong presence in the local community festival.  The float included OCC members of all ages riding, walking, or biking to show our church in action.

Congrats to all!

Sunday School begins Sept. 7

August 21, 2008

Nicki Behr, Director of Education, announces that our Rally Day kickoff–when Sunday School gets geared up for all ages–will be Sunday, September 7.  “The Board of Education wanted to give younger families time to get settled in school, with the Labor Day holiday behind us.”  Sunday School will be following an exciting new model called WoRM, which stands for Workshop Rotation Model.  In various learning stations, children will focus on the major stories and themes of the Bible.  Each story or theme will be taught over several weeks to reinforce the lessons through creative arts, drama, storytelling, music, and games.

If your child is new to Sunday School, we ask you to fill out a “new student card” found in the pew rack.  Send it with your child, and we’ll make sure he or she receives a warm welcome.

An adult lectionary study and a Senior High Bible study are each held at 9 AM.

For more information–or to volunteer your help–contact Nicki at nbehr@olmstedcommunitychurch.org.
