Bread and Broth Lenten Study

Our Lenten study program known as Bread and Broth will be held on Wednesday evenings beginning February 29 and concluding during Holy Week on April 4. We gather at 6pm in Fellowship Hall for a light soup and bread supper, followed by a group prayer and study session which ends by 7:15.

This year’s study is based on a video series by Adam Hamilton, 24 Hours That Changed the World. We’ll focus on the final events of Jesus’ life, from The Last Supper through the Crucifixion and the victorious Resurrection of Easter Sunday.

No reservations are needed to attend, and all are welcome. Those who wish may contribute soup and bread to the community supper. Janet Bing is coordinator, and a sign up sheet is found outside Fellowship Hall.

Explore the Treasures of Ireland

Rev. Ron will be leading a fall trip to the Emerald Isle beginning September 17 and continuing for 10 days. The trip will help us enjoy the beauty of Ireland, explore the history of Christianity in Great Britain, and meet the gracious people of this majestic island nation. The cost is $3200 which includes airfare from Cleveland, breakfast and dinner each day, deluxe lodging and all sightseeing admission fees.

Our itinerary will take us from the bustling capitol of Dublin to ancient castles and monasteries. We’ll see the lush countryside from The Ring of Kerry to the grand Cliffs of Moher and give you an opportunity to kiss the Blarney Stone at the famous Blarney Castle. You’ll see the ornately illustrated Book of Kells and enjoy the warmth and music of a traditional Irish pub.

With our congregation’s group travel program, you’ll also get to enjoy the friendship of other members of our church, make new friends along the way, and share the experiences with others when we return.

For more information, plan to attend an introduction session on Saturday, February 18 at 6pm in the Fireside Room (upper level). Rev. Ron will share an overview of the trip and answer questions.

Children’s Pageant Pics

Our children presented the Christmas event in a grand way this year, using the theme “Follow the Star”. They reminded us who is the true star of Christmas, Jesus Christ. A Children’s Christmas Choir, instrumentalists, and story-tellers added to the telling, along with sheep, angels, wise persons, and (of course) the Holy Family.

OCC connects with new G+ online site

There’s a new way to connect with Olmsted Community Church through social networking sites. Google has introduced it’s own “Facebook-style” site called Google+, and OCC has created a page there. We’ve had a growing presence on Facebook, and we’re always looking for new ways to connect with members and friends.
