OCC at Heritage Days

August 19-22 is our local Heritage Days festival in Olmsted Falls, and OCC will be there. You’ll find us with a float in the community parade on Thursday (6:30 p.m.), sharing information and funnel cakes, hot dogs and hamburgers at Grand Pacific Junction, and offering a Kid’s Carnival on Friday (noon to 4 p.m.).

If you want to help, we need candy to give away during the parade. Riders are welcome on the church float. We urgently need extra help in the food trailer & information table throughout the weekend.

To volunteer, contact Kimberlee in the church office at 235-3326.

Lantern Women’s Fellowship Retreat Info

Lantern Fellowship is an adult retreat offered to the women of the UCC Ohio Conference. It is a time when women, ranging in age from 25 to 80+ years, come together to enjoy good food, warm and friendly hospitality, and the peaceful, quiet beauty of wooded hills and trails where the spirit can find renewal.

The affirming and uplifting company of other women is quite inspiring. Lantern women have gathered away from home and church responsibilities for a time of community, worship, spiritual renewal and learning since 1928.

Spring and Fall sessions are held each year. The group meets at the Ohio Conference’s Pilgrim Hills Camp and Conference Center near Brinkhaven, Ohio.

This fall’s retreat will be held September 17-20. Please click here for additional information.

10-WEEK FALL PROGRAM

Living Faith – Exploring the Essentials of Christianity for adults and Molly Pickens & the Rainy Day Castle – Unlock the Mysteries of Jesus’ Love for K-5^th grade have been added to the fall line-up of programs. You also have your choice of days; either Tuesdays at 7:00 pm beginning September 14 or Sundays at 9:00 am beginning September 19. For more information or to register, click here Living Faith. You may also call Nicki Behr 235-3326. Pre-registration is helpful to make sure we have enough handbooks for the adults. The K-5^th program will be presented on Tuesdays only if there are students pre-registered.

UCC premieres new ad campaign

The United Church of Christ has released the latest in it’s advertising programs, this one a 90-sec ad entitled “The Language of God”. This ad was developed specifically to share through email, websites, Facebook pages, and other electronic media. The ad builds on the UCC motto, “Never place a period where God has placed a comma.” It reminds us that “God is still speaking.”
